Regional Representative’s Report-Keith Wyton: Keith invited the community to attend ACRD meetings in Port Alberni. Chair of ACRD is Josie Osborne, Mayor of Tofino; John McNabb is co-chair. –Keith recently attended a solid waste management meeting which promoted more recycling. Cardboard is now banned from the Landfill/Solid-waste site in Port Alberni, so it must be recycled. –West Bamfield garbage is an issue in that there is no facility to sort it on the west dock. –Bob Baden is Keith’s alternate. -Andy Daniels Environmental Services is no longer with ACRD. –Bruce Forsyth ACRD Maintenance technician will be leaving the position. -The water treatment project application is nearing deadline. $1.5 million is the estimated cost of the project. This could be partially off-set by capital reserve and gas tax monies. If Coastal Health mandates this project the Bamfield community would have no voice on the issue. –The pilot project for the new water treatment was completed in December and it appears the system design is very good.
